Fundada em 1829 por Baltazar Roiz Castanheiro, pertence à mesma família há cinco gerações e foi premiada em várias exposições internacionais tanto pela doçaria tradicional portuguesa como pelas inovações criadas ao longo dos tempos.
Uma delas é a receita do Bolo Rei (um segredo bem guardado) trazida para Portugal pelo filho do fundador em meados do Séc XIX.
No primeiro andar nasceu uma belíssima sala de chá, totalmente renovada mas sem perder os traços originais e característicos. Doçaria a não perder, ideal para um final de tarde sob a vista agitada, da Praça da Figueira.
