Um cacilheiro, muita arte! | One “cacilheiro”, so much art!
Observar o Tejo é saber que a paisagem não fica completa sem o cruzar dos cacilheiros, que todos os dias fazem a ponte entre Lisboa e a margem Sul. Todos os dias, milhares de pessoas navegam neles, fazem destes barcos uma parte essencial do seu dia a dia e é através deles que entram na cidade.
Entre eles há um que é especial, há um que lhes serve de homenagem, há um que hoje só viaja entre o Terreiro do Paço e Belém, mas que dentro acolhe todo um país. Pelas mãos de Joana Vasconcelos, o Trafaria Praia, desativado desde 2011, ganhou nova vida. Passou de barco a obra de arte flutuante e, em 2013, partiu à aventura com destino à Bienal de Veneza, onde serviu de pavilhão de Portugal. Agora, de volta às águas calmas do Tejo, é possível fazer uma viagem neste cacilheiro, que de terça a domingo sobe e desce as águas do rio.
Lá dentro há toda uma viagem multissensorial à nossa espera. Se pelas janelas se aprecia Lisboa, lá dentro sente-se um país. Há os azulejos pintados à mão que cobrem o barco e retratam uma vista atual da cidade. Há cortiça a revestir espaços, lembrando esse material tão nobre e tão importante para o país. E depois há uma espécie de viagem ao fundo do mar, onde o azul e o branco com jogos de luzes invadem o convés. Dê largas à imaginação e faça de conta que está dentro do Náutilos, criação de Júlio Verne, e que a qualquer momento poderá aparecer o capitão Nemo.

Watching the Tejo river is knowing that the landscape is not complete without the crossing of the ferries that connect Lisbon and the South border of the city every day. Every day, thousands of people get on board these boats that are an essential part of their daily lives and enter the city through them. Among them there is one that is special, there is one that serves them tribute, there is one that today only travels between Terreiro do Paço and Belém, but hosts an entire country.
From the hands of Joana Vasconcelos the Trafaria Praia, disabled since 2011, gained a new life. Went from boat to a floating work of art and, in 2013, started the adventure bound to “Venice Biennale”, where he served as the flag of Portugal. Now, back to the calm waters of the Tejo river, you can take a trip in this “cacilheiro” (the traditional Portuguese boat), that from Tuesday to Sunday rides up and down the river waters.
Inside there is a whole multisensory journey waiting. If looking out the windows you enjoy Lisbon, inside you feel a country. There are hand-painted tiles that cover the boat and depict a current view of the city. There are cork coating areas, reminding this noble and so important material to the country. Then, there is a similar trip to the bottom of the sea, with blue and white lighting invading the deck. Open your imagination and pretend that you are within Jules Verne’s Nautilus and that at any moment Captain Nemo will appear.
